Carolers visited parishioners, businesses, and community members on December 17 (Prince George, Petersburg, Colonial Heights) and December 18 (Hopewell, Chester), raising over $300.

The Ladies Auxiliary came together to share a holiday meal and hilarious gift exchange at Luca's in Prince George.

2025 Holiday Bazaar

Saturday, November 15 :: International Holiday Bazaar

Noon to 4:00pm - The Eliades Building 226 E. Broadway
The St. Elpis Ladies Auxiliary joined together with the Downtown Hopewell Partnership, Elliot Eliades, Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Prince George Heritage Center, Manna Bakery, Hopewell Youth Football League, Weston Manor, and Legacy Roasting to bring Hopewell a successful international bazaar featuring Greek pastries, Czech and Slovak delicacies, Columbian baked goods, American Southern favorites, lovely gifts, and hot coffee for purchase in a festive (and historic!) downtown spot. 

Sunday, November 9 :: Saint Elpis Thanksgiving Luncheon

Noon - The Blue Room
Following a successful annual Thanksgiving Luncheon, prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and featuring turkey, stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, and rolls, parishioners donated approximately 150lbs of canned goods and necessities to the Hopewell Food Bank to help make local residents Thanksgiving meals just as delicious.

"The History of Oxi Day"

Paschalis Michalakopoulos, a Hellenic Army officer stationed at Ft. Gregg-Adams. gave a lecture on the history of Oxi Day, the fight against Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy during WWII in Greece. Lunch was provided by the Parish Council.

Saturday, September 13 :: Greek Street Fest

Church Grounds
Celebrating 115 years of Greek culture in Southside Virginia, the parish of St. Elpis and the greater Tri-Cities community joined together to mark the Feast Day of Saint Elpis, making the first Hopewell Greek festival in 8 years a success. Pavlos Michaels provided tours of the church with explanations about Orthodoxy. Additional programming focusing on the history of the Greek Orthodox community in Hopewell, including a lecture by Jeanie Langford and an exhibit of historical artifacts, took place at Appomattox Regional Library.
